The Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone will strengthen the synergistic development with the intelligent connected vehicle industry clusters, and take the construction of the Shenshan Intelligent Manufacturing City project as an opportunity to cultivate the key materials from upstream and midstream processes, such as cathode materials, anode materials, diaphragms, electrolytes, battery packs, and so on. It will seize the opportunity to advance energy storage technology by supporting the exploitation of key battery materials such as high-conductivity electrolytes, high temperature resistance and low resistance diaphragms, and long-lasting, low-cost, high-security diaphragms. To create a new innovative industry system with the characteristics of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, it plans to construct a number of provincial and municipal key laboratories of electrochemical energy storage, engineering laboratories, engineering technology research centers, and enterprise technology centers.
China Resources Power, Green Eco-manufacture, and other well-known businesses have entered the energy storage market, establishing a solid foundation for development. Shenshan’s energy storage capacity has reached 30,000 kilowatts, accounting for 45% of the city’s total. At present, the China Resources Power Plant auxiliary FM energy storage project has accounted for the majority of the city’s installed capacity and was included in the National Energy Administration’s first batch of pilot demonstration projects for scientific and technological innovation in energy storage. Apart from that, Shenshan’s wind power and photovoltaic development has great potential. The cooperation zone is ideally suited for the deployment of new energy and conventional energy storage demonstration projects due to abundant resources of land and sea, developable land and sea wind power, and distributed photovoltaic resources totaling more than 1 million kilowatts.
