Xincuolin Ancient Village
From:Shenshan Special Cooperation ZoneUpdated:2025-06-17

The Xincuolin Ancient Village is the only village in the Cooperation Zone, where ancient dwellings are well preserved, and is rated as a Guangdong provincial-level historic and cultural village. In the late period of Ming Dynasty, the ancestors of the Lin family settled down here and built the village. The ancient village, the central axis of which is the east-west central street, faces east with the back to the west, with rear buildings higher than front ones. With the layout of three streets and six alleys, the village has five ancient buildings with three bedrooms and two halls each on two sides. An arrow tower, which is used for defense and finding out the attacker’s situation, was separately built in the four corners. Inside the village was neatly paved a four meters-wide cobblestone path. Such architectural resources in the ancient village have their own unique styles among residential buildings in Hailufeng, and are hailed as “living fossils” in the studies of ethnic migrations, folk custom, human geography and traditional culture.
